Physical Fitness

Promoting lifetime physical activity encourages children to maintain fitness into adulthood.  The most efficient means of promoting physical activity in children is to emphasize fitness experiences that foster enjoyment and accomplishment.

Areas of health-related fitness we practice include:  aerobic capacity, muscular strength, muscular endurance, and flexibility.

Motor Skills & Movement Concepts

Physical activity involves bodily movement of any type.  It includes recreational and daily activities, and provides health benefits when intensity increase heart rate and requires heavier than normal breathing. 

We focus on specific skills to foster motor skill development and concepts including:
dribbling, volleying, striking, kicking, trapping, jumping, catching, throwing, balance, stunts, manipulatives, and various games.

Team Sports & Recreation

Physical Education also provides students opportunities to practice skills and behaviors critical for an increase in knowledge, skills, and confidence to participate in team sports and recreation.

This year the sports and recreational activities we are presenting to students include:  2-Hand Touch Football, Ultimate Frisbee, Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton, Softball, Soccer, Bean Bag Toss, and Kickball.
